What to know about the upcoming Shreveport Police Department seatbelt checkpoint

The Shreveport Police Department announced Monday morning that they will be performing a seatbelt checkpoint Friday, March 11.

The checkpoint will begin at 1 p.m. and will last until 5 p.m.

The checkpoint will target drivers who are not wearing seatbelts but police said this check is not limited to seatbelt offenses.

This will be a collaborative effort with the Louisiana State Police and the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office.

Funding for this checkpoint is provided by a grant through the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission as part of the continuing effort to help curb the number of drivers who take to the streets without safety protection while driving.
