What to know about Arkansas basketball addition Trevon Brazile, a transfer from Missouri
FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas basketball its first transfer and the player is coming from an SEC foe.
Missouri forward Trevon Brazile announced his commitment to the Razorbacks on Wednesday, becoming the seventh new player for Arkansas and the first transfer.
Brazile, a 6-foot-7, 215-pound freshman, entered the transfer portal after Missouri coach Cuonzo Martin was fired at the end of the season.
He was one of the Tigers' best and most athletic players. He shot more than 53% from the field, but that was with low shot volume. He averaged 6.6 points per game on fewer than five field goal attempts per game.
Late in the season, though, Missouri seemed to use Brazile offensively a bit more. In Missouri's last five games, he averaged about 10 points, eight rebounds and two blocks. He shot almost 53% in those games and took more than seven shots per game.
His specialty, however, was defense. He was Missouri's second-leading rebounder with 5.6 per game. He ranked third in the SEC in blocks per game with 1.9 despite missing the first eight games of the season due to an unspecified injury.

REACTION: Fans congratulate Eric Musselman, Arkansas basketball after season ends in Elite 8
Before Arkansas' second regular-season game against the Tigers, in which Brazile scored eight points and grabbed eight boards, coach Eric Musselman compared his steady improvement to that of the Razorbacks' Jaylin Williams.
"He's no different than a lot of younger big guys that keep getting better," Musselman said. "He's a guy that can switch out on a guard. He's got great versatility, and a bright future, for sure."
That future now lies in Fayetteville, and Brazile should fit in well with a team that prided itself on defense.
Brazile was a three-star prospect out of Kickapoo High School in Springfield, Missouri, and was the No. 4 player in the state in the class of 2021. Wisconsin and Missouri were his only high-major offers out of high school.
With three four-star recruits and three five-stars coming out of the high school ranks for next season, Brazile joins a loaded class of newcomers. Forward Chance Moore has already entered the portal, and more are likely to follow. But Musselman's work getting players from the portal isn't finished, and Arkansas will surely add a few more transfers to the mix.
