LSU coach Kim Mulkey gives her pink-sequined jacket to a fan after win over Ole Miss
After most basketball games, fans might leave with a foam finger, a T-shirt that's too big and perhaps a lighter wallet.
When Rei Stevens walked out of the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Thursday night, she left with a far-more prized possession.
No. 4 LSU women's basketball had just beaten Ole Miss, 69-60, and afterward, Stevens, a freshman at LSU, and her friends made their way down to behind the team bench, where by chance they interacted with coach Kim Mulkey.
As Mulkey was walking off the floor, Stevens took her shot.

"'Strut your stuff,'" Stevens said to Mulkey.
What the LSU coach did next shocked her. She took off her pink-sequined jacket with multi-colored butterflies stitched all over and handed it to her. Stevens and her friends shrieked in glee.
"She looked real pretty," Stevens said. "Then she took off her jacket and gave it to me and said, 'You can have it.' She just handed it over.
"I didn't even ask her for it. She just gave it to me."

Mulkey said she handed her jacket over, not thinking about it, and jokingly hoped she didn't break any NCAA rules.
"It was on a whim, I just gave it to her. That's not an NCAA violation, is it?" Mulkey said, laughing. "If it is, we'll have to track her down."
Mulkey said it was the first time she has given away on the sideline something she's worn during a game.
Stevens said she and her friends have been to all of LSU's home games this season. Thursday was the first time they had gotten down onto the floor after a game, and she said she wasn't about to pass up the opportunity to interact with Mulkey.
Her impulse resulted in a one-of-a-kind souvenir that she plans to hang up in her room.
"That's pretty amazing, really," Stevens said. "It says a lot about her character. She's a sweet woman.
"Honestly, it's probably not gonna hit me until tomorrow morning. I'm going to have to wake up and look at it like from across the room. I may just walk around campus with it on."
