Kewaunee County election results: Wisnicky, Hardtke top primary for county judge
KEWAUNEE COUNTY - Jeffrey Wisnicky and Kim Hardtke will face each other in the April 5 election to become the new circuit court judge for Kewaunee County.
The pair ousted John Peterson from the race in Tuesday's three-way primary election.
Wisnicky, a Kewaunee resident who has served as Kewaunee County's Corporation Counsel since 2007 and was named the county's human resources director in 2021, topped the results with 1,219 votes, also winning the most votes in 12 of the county's 14 units. The April election will be the second run for the seat for Wisnicky, who lost the race against Keith Mehn in 2016.
Hardtke, who lives in Luxemburg and was named Brown County Assistant District Attorney in 2017, received 717 votes to edge the 663 cast for Peterson, a Luxemburg resident and private practice attorney who owns his own firm.
Whoever wins the April election between Wisnicky and Hardtke will replace Mehn, who decided to not seek reelection after serving one term before he died of cancer Dec. 25. The term is for six years.
