Kent State head coach Rob Senderoff visits Avondale Elementary's 'Guys with Ties'
Kent State men’s basketball coach Rob Senderoff attended the December meeting of the "Guys with Ties" at Avondale Elementary School, a member of the Plain Local School District located near the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton.
"Guys with Ties" is a leadership group for third grade boys at Avondale organized by physical education teacher Kent Hamilton. During their monthly meetings the boys dress in matching shirts and ties, and receive lessons from Hamilton on dining etiquette, showing respect for the elderly and females, community service and communication. The boys practiced proper introductions with Coach Senderoff, who shared some secrets that help make his players and program successful. Senderoff answered questions from group members, then closed the meeting by teaching the boys some basketball fundamentals.
