Julianne Hough Officially Filed for Divorce From Brooks Laich

They separated six months ago.

Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich have officially ended their marriage, Entertainment Tonight reports. Hough filed for divorce in Los Angeles today, six months after the two announced their separation. Hough has been quarantining in L.A. and Laich has been in Idaho, though he was briefly seen in Southern California — and Hough was also spotted in Idaho — which sparked rumors of a possible reconciliation.

"They missed being together and they both realized they’d taken each other for granted," a source told ET at the time, adding that they are "both working on being open and respectful of each other."

In addition to being seen around L.A., the two shared similar photos of a lake house, though it seems that the "full reconciliation" never materialized.

E! News notes that Hough initiated the separation, saying that she was ready for "freedom and independence."

"It was Julianne who initiated their split," a source said. "But she was really struggling with it and felt torn."

A second source added that Hough "ultimately decided her heart wasn't in the marriage anymore and wanted to give herself the freedom and independence to experience new things."

The duo married back in July 2017 after an almost two-year engagement. The couple started dating in early 2014. Hough called it "love at first sight."

"It was crazy. We had been talking for a while, but we hadn't met," she said in 2017. "When we saw each other for the first time, it was like, 'And, we're done.'"
