Josh Duggar and wife Anna Duggar welcome their fifth child
Josh Duggar has officially welcomed his fifth child with wife Anna Duggar. Their newest son is named Mason Garett, and he joins siblings Mackynzie, Michael, Marcus and Meredith. (The Duggars really love their matching monograms.)
Josh, whose personal scandals have at times complicated or sullied his famous family name, is "ecstatic" over the "beautiful blessing," an online family post read.
The couple announced their pregnancy in March, and their statement seemingly acknowledged the controversial past headlines, which include marital infidelity, use of pornography (which is strictly banned by the family), and allegations that he molested his female siblings.
"The last few years, while publicly stating I was fighting against immorality in our country, I was hiding my own personal failings," he said in 2015.
Two years later, "we have quietly worked to save our marriage, focus on our children, and rebuild our lives as a family," the couple wrote online. "Doing so is never easy after a breach of trust. We've learned that a life of faith and rebuilding a life together is simply done one day at a time. As we continue our journey as a family and rebuild our lives, we are delighted to share with you that we are expecting a new baby boy later this year."
Four of Josh's sisters -- Jill, Jinger, Jessa and Joy -- recently filed a privacy lawsuit over publicly-released documents related to being molested by Josh. Josh attempted to join their lawsuit, but his sisters asked a judge to deny his request.
“It would be next to impossible for a jury to ignore the perpetrator sitting next to the victims, yet decide the different issues, different claims and different damages that apply for victims as compared to perpetrator," their documents state. "Consolidation would undoubtedly give the false impression that the victim and the perpetrator are ‘in this together.'"
