Job fair set for Hampton Center on Dec. 8
State Rep. Yvonne Hayes Hinson, D-Gainesville, and Ocala City Councilman Ire Bethea Sr. are partnering with CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion and the College of Central Florida to host a job fair from 2-4 p.m. Dec. 8 at CF’s Hampton Center, 1501 W. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala.
The fair is free and open to the public. "Opportunities include a variety of industries and all job levels, including entry-level positions. High school diplomas are not required. Those interested in attending are asked to register ahead of time at bit.ly/ConnectCareers," organizers said in a news release.

Duke Energy announces new Share the Light Fund
Duke Energy Florida last week announced its new Share the Light Fund, designed to help customers who need financial help paying their energy bills.
"Any customer can help by contributing via the Share the Light Fund option on their monthly bill, with Duke Energy pledging to match up to $1 million in contributions," the utility said in a news release.
Customers who need help should visit duke-energy.com/sharethelight. Those who wish to provide assistance can find information on their Duke Energy bills.

Grant will help CF help College Park Elementary School
The College of Central Florida has received a $13,000 Empower grant from Siemens Industry and will use the money to help College Park Elementary School in Ocala develop an indoor/outdoor science lab. College Park is Marion County's first Community Partnership School.
"The project is designed to address very low student grades and learning in science, particularly in fourth and fifth grades, by offering activities including observations of fruit-bearing trees, measuring rainfall and growing hydroponic vegetables," CF said in a news release.
“The Community Partnership School at College Park Elementary is very thankful to receive this grant from Siemens Industry Inc.,” said Caron Reid, Community Partnership School director, in the release. “Our project will now be able to move forward to improve student learning in the areas of sustainable science and STEM."

The College of Central Florida Marketing and Public Relations Department received seven commendations, including one Gold Award, in this year’s National Council for Marketing and Public Relations District 2 Medallion Awards.

E-ONE parent company announces two executive appointments
REV Fire Group, which includes Ocala-based E-ONE, has appointed Gary Pacilio as vice president/general manager of E-ONE and Joseph Belle as vice president of operations for REV Fire Group.
"Pacilio has spent the previous 15 months as the senior director, operational excellence for REV Fire Group, including roles as interim VP/GM at Spartan Fire Chassis and has more than 10 years’ experience in operational leadership," REV Fire Group said in a news release. "Over the years, he has held several leadership positions with L3Harris, GE and IDEX Corporation, where he served as vice president within the Fire Suppression Group."

The Community Foundation for Ocala/Marion County announces four new board members: Joe Johnson, president of AdventHealth Ocala; Ben Marciano, owner of Zone Health & Fitness; Adam Woods, chief lending officer for Gulf Atlantic Bank; and Megan Stamm, director of marketing & creative content for Barbur Law, LLC.
Allison Campbell achieves Certified Board Member status
Marion County School Board Vice Chairwoman Allison Campbell has achieved Certified Board Member status as recognized by the Florida School Boards Association.
"The CBM distinction ensures a board member’s ability to be well-rounded and understanding in their policy-making responsibilities," according to a news release from Marion County Public Schools. "To earn this distinction, members complete 96 hours of training in a wide range of topics covering boardsmanship, school finance, policy governance, bargaining, curriculum and instruction, state/federal legislative processes, and school law."
Fellow board members Kelly King and Nancy Thrower also have achieved this status.
