Jessica Alba, 40, Flaunts Killer Core While 'Twinning' With Her BFF In IG Photo

Jessica Alba has made it very clear over the years that fitness is important to her. And evidently, she also likes to work up a sweat with her bestie.

Jessica dropped a pic of herself on Instagram with BFF Lizzy Mathis, wearing matching workout gear. Both Jessica and Lizzy are wearing black sports bras and high-waisted yoga shorts that show off their ultra-toned abs. And they both look super relaxed and happy just hanging out together. “Twinning 👯♀️ #selfcare days with this one @lizzymathis 💞,” Jessica wrote in the caption.

People were all over it in the comments: “Beautiful 😍😍😍😍😍😍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥,” one wrote. “So pretty Jess ❤️,” said another.

But just how does she stay in shape? The 40-year-old actress and entrepreneur previously told Women's Health that the pandemic changed up the way she approached exercise. “I always thought, ‘I need to sweat out my weight in water, I need to have muscle failure, I need to feel like I just ran a marathon.’ That’s how hard I needed to work out," she said. “I’ve learned to mix it up and not feel like a failure if I’m not, you know, killing myself.”

For Jessica, that means doing up to four workouts a week that are heavy on the Pilates reformer. “I feel every muscle in my core,” she said of Pilates. “I never even knew I had those things.” When she’s not doing Pilates, she’ll take a spin class or do hot yoga.

Jessica told Byrdie that she’s into high-intensity workouts. “I like moving around a lot,” she said. “I don’t like a lot of repetition. I’ll always work out with a friend because it’s more fun."

Overall, Jessica said she just likes to be active and healthy. "If you can be active in any way shape or form, it's always good to keep the blood flowing," she previously told E!. "If you can just do it two or three times a week, a little bit of exercise whether it's yoga or going for a walk or cycling class or something...go for it."

The Honest Company founder also eats well, focusing on plant-based meals and shunning alcohol four days a week. But, she says, “Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, all bets are off. That feels like moderation to me.”

Jessica also told Byrdie that her favorite breakfast is avocado toast with poached eggs—and that she likes to cook a lot for dinner. “My family likes when I make Cornish game hen—or stir fries, pastas, and lasagna,” she said. “The kids are pretty easy; they like pretty much everything. I like to cook. In the summer, we do a lot of grilling; in the winter, we do roasting. We always have roasted veggies. I kind of like to cook anything depending on the weather.”
