Jayhawk Theatre filling its stage with shows by KT Tunstall, Brad Upton and more
Whether it's live music or a chance to sit and enjoy a movie, the Jayhawk Theatre is filling its calendar with events for all to enjoy.
Topekans have a variety of live performances they can attend this month through August. Here are some of the musical performances and comics to check out at the theater, 720 S.W. Jackson St., in coming weeks.
KT Tunstall to perform on the big stage
Scottish musician KT Tunstall will perform her hit songs, including "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" and "Suddenly I See."
At 7 p.m. , May 18, the show will begin with local singer, Ellie Arilyn Smith performing as the opener.
Jeff Carson, president of the board of directors for Jayhawk Theatre, said the show will be one of the largest the theater has seen yet.

"We've done a lot of polling and we are getting input from our patron center board and everybody else about who would they like to see come to Topeka," Carson said. "So I'm hoping that Topeka will roll out the red carpet for her to make make her feel comfortable and want to come back."
Ticket prices for the Thursday show range from $30 to $50.
Comedy shows coming to the Jayhawk Theatre
'Tap Out, Nap Out, Crap Out with Comedian Brad Upton'
"Tap Out, Nap Out, Crap Out with Comedian Brad Upton" will bring humor to the stage at 7 p.m. June 16.
For a sneak peak of what Upton will bring to the stage, Topekans can watch Upton's latest special "I'm Not Done," which has more than 1.5 million views on Youtube's Dry Bar Comedy.
"Tap Out" is an all-ages show with ticket prices varying from $20 to $40.
'Comedy Stampede' with William Lee Martin
The Texas original, William Lee Martin will perform stand-up at 8 p.m. July 12.
Martin is prominent for his his television comedy specials including “Let the Laughter Roll,” “Standing in the Middle” and “The Nutcracker: a Christmas Special based on his Vasectomy,” currently streaming on Amazon Prime and Apple TV.
Comedy Stampede is an all-ages show. Tick prices vary from $20 to $40.
Isiah J. Kelley 2023 National Comedy Tour
Isiah J. Kelley will hit the stage bringing laughter to the crowd at 8 p.m. Aug. 12.
Kelley has performed alongside heavy-hitting comedians like Mike Epps and Katt Williams. He is on tour with well-known Lavell Crawford and has made appearances on BET, Comedy Central, Showtime at the Apollo and more.
Kelley's 2023 comedy tour is for ages 16 and older with ticket prices ranging from $20 to $40.
