What James Spann said about possible severe weather, tornadoes in Alabama this week
Severe weather is forecast for Alabama this week. And when meteorologist James Spann speaks up about it, Alabamians know to listen.
Severe storms are possible across Alabama beginning Wednesday afternoon and into early Thursday morning. Strong winds and a few tornadoes are possible, Spann tweeted on Dec. 28.
Another severe weather threat will come Saturday afternoon into Saturday night, followed by much colder air.

Temperatures remain warm, the National Weather Service in Birmingham tweeted.
Spann advises paying attention to weather alerts and developments from multiple sources and ensuring you can hear tornado sirens if they go off.
Other precautions may include stocking up and locating extra batteries and flashlights, charging your devices and staying warm and dry.
There have been 61 recorded tornadoes in Alabama this year, according to the NWS.
