Carter’s remains, which have been lying in repose at the Carter Presidential Center since Saturday, will leave the Atlanta campus Tuesday morning, accompanied by his children and extended family. Special Air Mission 39 will depart Dobbins Air Reserve Base north of Atlanta and arrive at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, with a motorcade into Washington and the Capitol, where members of Congress will pay their respects at an afternoon service.

US self-driving car companies seek boost under Trump
A group representing self-driving car companies on Tuesday called on the U.S. government to do more to speed the deployment of autonomous vehicles and remove barriers to adoption. "The federal government is the one that needs to lead when it comes to vehicle design, construction and performance, and we just have not seen enough action out of the federal government in recent years," Jeff Farrah, who heads the Autonomous Vehicle Industry Association, said in an interview. US probing about 2.6 million Tesla vehicles over 'Actually Smart Summon' feature
The NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation said it had received one complaint alleging a crash when the feature was being used and had reviewed at least three media reports of similar crashes linked to it. The Tesla vehicles involved in the crash failed to detect posts or parked vehicles when they were operating on Actually Smart Summon, the regulator said. "The ODI is aware of multiple crash allegations, involving both Smart Summon and Actually Smart Summon, where the user had too little reaction time to avoid a crash, either with the available line of sight or releasing the phone app button, which stops the vehicle's movement," it added.
