IU women's basketball adds 'one of the top players in Europe' with Israeli Yarden Garzon
BLOOMINGTON – Teri Moren added an intriguing player from overseas to her 2022 class Friday, when the Hoosiers announced the signing of Israeli guard Yarden Garzon.
A four-star recruit per Premier Basketball Report, Garzon comes to Indiana after averaging 14.9 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game for Maccabi Ironi Ramat Gan. Garzon is also a 43.8% 3-point shooter, per a news release announcing her signing.

Garzon has what the release terms “extensive experience” with the Israeli National Team, having represented her country most recently at the U20 European Challengers. There, she averaged 19.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, two assists and two blocks per game. She also joined her country’s national team for EuroBasket 2023 qualifiers in November, where she started against Latvia.

“We have been recruiting Yarden for a couple of years,” Moren said in the release. “Yarden has competed at a high level in Israel, playing with and against multiple WNBA players. She is one of the top players in Europe, and she has proven that against elite competition. Yarden's versatility as a 6-2 guard is impressive. She is an excellent shooter and rebounds at a high level, all while running the point guard position. We are excited about her future as a Hoosier.”
Garzon becomes the fourth member of IU’s signing class this year, joining Lilly Meister, Lexus Bargesser and Henna Sandvik.
