Insider: IU's outgoing transfers were always going to happen. And they needed to.

Evans scored 11 points in Montverde's win over Link Academy of Missouri in the GEICO High School Nationals championship game Sunday in Fort Myers, Fla. He posted eight points and 10 rebounds against IMG Academy in the semifinals Saturday and five points and six rebounds in the quarterfinal win over Compass Prep School in Arizona.

Indiana signed Montverde Academy point guard Jalen Hood-Schifino for the 2022 class. Ranked the No. 21 player in the Class of 2022, Hood-Schifino posted a combined 20 points, 17 assists, nine rebounds and seven steals in the three-game tournament, shooting 8-of-22 from the field.

Indiana has commitments from Georgia shooting guard Jakai Newton and Ohio point guard Gabe Cupps in the 2023 class. Newton is rated No. 61 in the class and Cupps No. 129. Along with Hood-Schifino, in the Class of 2022, the Hoosiers have Georgia wing Kaleb Banks and Lawrence North guard CJ Gunn signed. The 6-8 Banks is No. 74 in the class and Gunn No. 141. With fifth-year senior forward Race Thompson down to one year of eligibility remaining and uncertain whether or not he will use it and junior center Trayce Jackson-Davis considering entering the NBA draft with two years of eligibility remaining, the Hoosiers are in need of frontcourt help in the 2023 class.
