Isiaih Mosley will not play, DeGray in street clothes for Mizzou’s game against Tennessee
Knoxville, Tenn.— Missouri basketball will be without Isiaih Mosley for the second straight game, when it faces Tennessee on the road. An MU athletics spokesperson confirmed Mosley is unavailable for the contest.
“Personal, private matter,” the spokesperson said. “Nothing disciplinary.”
Mosely missed Tuesday’s game against South Carolina after playing in the previous six matchups for the Tigers. After that game, Missouri head coach Dennis Gates said the two had mutally decided Mosley shouldn’t play.
“Isiaih and I had a conversation before the game,” Gates said. “And we both felt that it was great to just, you know, take this one off.”
Mosley had missed six consecutive games earlier in the season due to an unspecified personal matter. He returned to action against Arkansas on Jan. 18, after having not played since the Tigers faced Central Florida on Dec. 17.
Mosley transferred to Missouri from Missouri State during the offseason. He played his high school basketball at Rock Bridge before heading to Springfield, where he built a reputation as a scorer for the Bears.
Mosley is averaging 9.6 points per game. His best performance of the season came against Ole Miss when he had 20 points, five assists and two steals.
He wasn’t the only player to miss time in recent games for the Tigers. Forward Ronnie DeGray has been out with knee injury, and guard Tre Gomillion has been sidelined with a groin issue.
Gates has said he would err on the side of caution with regards to player injuries. Before Saturday’s matchup at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, Gomillion went through pregame warmups with his teammates, while DeGray was sitting on the bench wearing street clothes and a knee brace.
The Tigers and Volunteers are scheduled to tip off at 5 p.m. central time. The game will be aired on the SEC Network.
