House District 91: Peggy Gossett-Seidman takes slight lead over Andy Thomson

Voters in southern Palm Beach County narrowly elected Peggy Gossett-Seidman to a term in the Florida House of Representatives, according to unofficial results posted on the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections website.

With all 72 precincts in District 91 reporting, Gossett-Seidman defeated Andy Thomson, gaining 51.9% of the vote to his 48.1%.

"I've met so many wonderful people, knocking doors," Gossett-Seidman said late Tuesday. "We've knocked around 19,000 doors, since the primaries, since March, and we've just met fabulous, really wonderful, hardworking people.

"I think the election is just really about the economy, so I'm going to get up to Tallahassee and do everything I can in my power to get this economy straightened out and get everything we can for Boca Raton and the beaches."

The two candidates vied for a seat that has been occupied for 12 years by Emily Slosberg-King, who did not seek re-election.

Republican candidate Gossett-Seidman, 69, has served on the Highland Beach Town Commission since 2018. She has lived in the area for the past 31 years and works in public relations.

Thomson, who calls himself a moderate Democrat, was elected to the Boca Raton City Council during a special election in 2018. He was re-elected without opposition in March 2020. Born in Boca Raton, Thomson, 40, currently serves as a business attorney with local firm Baritz & Colman LPP.

Redistricting turned House District 91 a lighter shade of blue. Now, the district will comprise Boca Raton, Highland Beach and parts of Western Boca.

Members of the Florida House of Representatives serve two-year terms. They are limited to four terms.
