Holliday Park brings outdoor ice skating to Indianapolis
With all the things Indianapolis has to offer during the holiday season, outdoor ice skating is hard to come by within the 465 loop. This year, Holliday Park park built its first ice skating rink offering a slick experience to all visitors.
"There was no ice skating rink inside 465," said Adam Barnes, the executive director of the Holliday Park Foundation. "Zionsville has one, and Carmel, Noblesville, and Lawrence, but Indianapolis does not have an outdoor rink. So we thought, 'Hey, let's give it a shot.'"
Morgan Synder is one of the Indy residents excited to share this rink with her 4-year-old son Coleman. "This is our first time ice skating together," said Synder. "There are very few outdoor ice skating opportunities in Indy. It's so cool to have this outdoor amenity."
There's hot chocolate and holiday music on repeat, giving visitors winter wonderland vibes. A 1.5-hour skate session with an included skate rental costs $13. Sessions can be scheduled from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The outdoor ice skating rink will be open through Jan. 29th, 2023.
