High school sports are back. Here's The Bulletin's plan to keep you informed.

It’s that time of year again.

High school sports are back.

Teams across the state are hitting the practice fields with the goal of putting in the hard work that lays the foundation for a successful season. We’re doing the same right here at The Bulletin.

If you’ve been following high school sports you may recall that last year we took a new approach to covering our local teams. We placed more of an emphasis on providing analysis of what happened at the games and less on rehashing what spectators already saw. We told more stories about those people playing the games and highlighted the top performers on the field on a daily basis.

To get our readers more involved, we also let you have a hand in determining the top players each week.

We also brought back our All-Bulletin teams to recognize the best who took to the fields and courts at the end of the season. We got a jump at the start of the year by talking to coaches to learn more about the players to watch.

This approach proved successful as many of you came over to norwichbulletin.com and bought copies of The Bulletin to take in our coverage and go beyond the field. For that we thank you.

Now as we move closer to the season officially kicking off, we once again have a plan in place to bring you the best coverage of the teams and student-athletes from Norwich, Griswold, Killingly and Plainfield.

From the football field to the volleyball court we’ll be there. If news is breaking from a key injury – we hope that’s not the case – to a change at quarterback, we’ll have the information and tell you what it means going forward.

As we charge toward the season it should be noted that much of our unparalleled coverage will be available only to subscribers. But there’s good news on that front. You can take advantage of our standard offer, which is a six-month digital subscription, for just $1. That’ll get you through high school football season and well into winter sports season.

Throughout the season you'll also find special deals being offered at various times. Regardless of which offer you use, the benefits of subscribing go beyond sports coverage. Being a digital subscriber gives you full access to all online content, plus the e-Edition, an electronic, page-by-page copy of each day's printed newspaper. You can download the pages as PDFs and print them out, so even though you’re not getting the hard copy of the newspaper, you can still start that scrapbook. The e-Edition access also goes beyond The Bulletin, with the ability to read the daily paper from more than 200 partners within the USA Today network.

We look forward to you joining us this season.
