HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Cape Tech boys soccer extends unbeaten streak to 13 games

Since starting 0-2, the Cape Tech boys soccer team has gone 12-0-1 since Sept. 19.

The Crusaders most recent win came with a 6-1 victory over Falmouth Academy on Friday to move their record to 12-2-1.

Jace Clady started the scoring 20 seconds into the game as he received a pass over defenders from Alex Valdovinos. Andrew Montero scored the second goal in the 27th minute. In the 34th minute, Gabriel Martins scored a goal with an assist from Clady.

In the second half, Jacob Gardener scored a goal, assisted by Jason Neira in the 55th minute. Lucas Gurski scored a goal in the 67th minute. Clady scored his second goal with 33 seconds remaining.

BOYS SOCCER

Bourne 2, Mashpee 1: Leo Withiam-Andrade played a beautiful curling pass from the right side around the defender to Alex Fasoli who finished on the back post for the winning goal for the Canalmen.

Senior captain Zack Dodge headed in a corner from senior captain Shea Ullo for the Canalmen's first goal.

Emergency goalkeeper James Crowell picked up his first varsity win with seven saves for Bourne (7-5-2).

Will Chapman scored the lone goal with an assist from Lucas Dehelean for Mashpee (0-11-3).

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Barnstable 3, Dennis-Yarmouth 2: After losing the first two sets, the Red Hawks completed the reverse sweep to beat the Dolphins 22-25, 17-25, 25-16, 25-17,16-14. Barnstable clinched the Cape and Islands League with an 8-0 league record.

Lindsay Jones had the winning kill, one of her 14 on the night for Barnstable (14-1). Charlotte Sullivan and Molly Fredo each had 15 kills. Sadie Wellbeloved dished out 52 assists. Scout Johnson and Mackenzie Vetorino had seven and five aces respectively. Logan Hurwitz played well on defense with 22 digs.

Grace Presswood led with 27 kills and 25 digs for D-Y (14-4). Ava Pecorella had seven kills and two blocks. Ellen Swanson finished with seven kills and 22 digs. Vivian Castano dished out 39 assists, and Eliana Castano contributed four aces and 22 digs.

Cape Tech 3, Old Colony 0: The Crusaders swept the Cougars 25-18, 25-15, 25-13. Cape Tech moves to 10-4.

South Shore Tech 3, Upper Cape 0: The Rams were swept by the Vikings. Laney Cooper, Cheyanne Calvert, Ava Currier and Jocelyn DelSignore played well for Upper Cape (0-13).

Sturgis East 3, Sturgis West 1: After dropping the first set, Sturgis East stormed back to win 17-25, 27-25, 25-23, 25-20.

Natalie Fredriksen led the way with 19 assists and five kills for Sturgis East (7-6). Brooke Bouchard had nine kills, and Claire Komar finished with eight kills and three aces for the Storm.

Sturgis West drops to 5-9.

GIRLS SOCCER

Cape Cod Academy 1, Nantucket 1: Jenna Marsh had five shots and made one for the Seahawks lone goal. Lili Shanahan had 33 saves for Cape Cod Academy (8-7-1).

Nantucket stands at 7-5-1.

Mashpee 2, Bourne 1: Eighth grader Ary Lee scored the winning goal (first varsity goal) with 15 minutes remaining in the second half for the Falcons.

Hailey Garcia scored the first goal, and eighth grader goalkeeper Mia Fougere made eight saves for Mashpee (8-6-2).

In the 15th minute, senior Brooke Lunedei scored the only goal assisted by senior captain Hannah Wenzel for Bourne (4-9-3). Captain Emma Bourgault finished with 13 saves in goal. Paige Meda, Isabella Wolf, and Ainsley Hopwood also played good for the Canalwomen.

Upper Cape 3, Bristol Aggie 0: The Rams (7-5-3) swept the Chieftans to move to 7-5-3.

FIELD HOCKEY

Dennis-Yarmouth 1, Barnstable 0: Jordyn Pineau scored the lone unassisted goal in the first 20 seconds of the third quarter for the Dolphins.

Offensively, cousins Leah Woodward and Brooke Woodward worked well together creating multiple pushes to the goal for D-Y (3-7-5).

Barnstable (7-7-3) finished with seven offensive corners.

St. John Paul II 1, Nantucket 0: Kaylee Anthony scored on a running pass and managed to put the ball right through the goalie's pads into the net for the winning goal.

Shea Ryan, Maya Delancey and Emily Gorsuch played well on defensive for JPII (4-2-4).

Nantucket falls to 5-6-1.

Bourne 1, Wareham 0: Senior captain Madison Sexton scored the winning goal with an assist from Ava Grobeleski with 4:05 left in the third quarter on Senior Night.

Tori Flaherty, Heather Lapworth, and Taylor Dodge had good games for Bourne (6-8-2).
