High school football matchups to watch on the final night of regular season play in St. Cloud
ST. CLOUD — Sauk Rapids hopes to finish strong as they host Monticello for their final regular-season game of the year Wednesday night.
The Storm are 6-1 after a 33-20 win against Moorhead last week. Their only loss of the year was in a close 28-25 game Oct. 7 at St. Francis.
Sauk Rapids and Monticello are tied for second place at 2-1 in the North-Central Blue District behind 3-0 St. Francis. The Magic are 3-4 overall.
ROCORI also looks to finish on a high note as they travel to Big Lake Wednesday night to take on the 0-7 Hornets. After a 5-0 start, the Spartans are now 5-2 after tough road losses to Hutchinson (38-14) and Willmar (33-28) last week.
Sartell hosts Bemidji Wednesday night after a hard-fought 15-6 loss to Alexandria last week. Both teams are 2-5. Bemidji won 29-13 at home against Tech last week.
The Albany Huskies travel to Zimmerman Wednesday night for the last game of their regular season. Albany is coming off a 34-0 win against Foley last week. The Huskies are 4-3 while the Thunder are 5-2.
Cathedral will finish their regular season Wednesday with a trip to Princeton to take on the 5-2 Tigers. Cathedral is 1-6 after a 41-12 loss to Little Falls last week.
St. Cloud Tech hosts 2-5 Alexandria Wednesday night as Apollo hosts 3-4 Coon Rapids. Both Tech and Apollo are 1-6.
Other area action
The Kimball Cubs hope to seal a perfect season as they host 4-3 Upsala-Swanville Wednesday night. The Cubs are the only undefeated team in the Mid State Blue Division at 7-0.
Just a bit to the west, the Eden Valley-Watkins Eagles are also 7-0 after a 38-7 win against Pierz last week. The Eagles will host 0-7 Minnewaska Wednesday night.
Milaca finishes the regular season Wednesday night at Little Falls. The Wolves are 6-1, their only loss coming in a wild one Oct. 7 44-36 against New London-Spicer. The Flyers are 2-5.
Pierz will travel to Royalton Wednesday night. Both teams are 5-2.
