A recap and roundup of this week's area round in the University Interscholastic League boys high school basketball playoffs.
AREA
CLASS 5A
Veterans Memorial 75, Sharyland Pioneer 47: Veterans Memorial continued its roll through the playoffs with a convincing in Falfurrias on Friday. The Eagles advance to play McAllen Memorial in the regional quarterfinals.
Flour Bluff 60, Brownsville Pace 48: The Hornets rolled to the third round with a victory on Friday. Flour Bluff will take on McAllen in the regional quarterfinals.
CLASS 4A
Miller 75, La Vernia 58: The Buccaneers will return to the regional quarterfinals after a double-digit win against La Vernia. Miller will take on Stafford in a regional quarterfinal.
Pleasanton 57, West Oso 54: The Bears' season came to a close after a close loss to Pleasanton. The Eagles will take on Boerne in the regional quarterfinals.
Kingsville 61, Uvalde: The Brahmas are moving on to the third round after a victory against Uvalde in Poteet. Kingsville advances to take on San Antonio Young Men's Leadership Academy.
Nate Garcia scored 27 points in the victory, and Kenney Jensen added 14.
CLASS 3A
London 83, Monte Alto 55: The Pirates (29-6) rolled to another area round victory with a return to the third round. London will face San Diego in the regional quarterfinals.
Bishop 103, Mission IDEA North 65: The Badgers (31-4) rolled to a second round playoff victory, advancing to the third round. Bishop will take on Santa Gertrudis Academy in the regional quarterfinals.
San Diego 63, Edinburg IDEA 35: The Vaqueros will move onto the third round where they will take District 30-3A rival London in the regional quarterfinals.
Santa Gertrudis Academy 66, Santa Rosa 56: The Lions were able to top regional stalwart Santa Rosa to earn a date in the regional quarterfinals. Santa Gertrudis Academy advances to take on Bishop in the third round.
CLASS 2A
Falls City 59, Port Aransas 53: The Marlins (22-8) season came to a close with a close loss to Falls City on Friday. Falls City advances to take on Three Rivers or Goldthwaite in the regional quarterfinals.
San Antonio Lee Academy 57, Refugio 49: Lee Academy put together a late surge to top the Bobcats in the area round. Lee Academy advances to take on Freer in the regional quarterfinals.
