The Kansas State men's basketball team heads to Ames, Iowa, on Tuesday, looking to protect its one-game Big 12 lead against Iowa State in a key conference matchup at Hilton, Coliseum.

The No. 5-ranked Wildcats are 17-2 overall and alone atop the Big 12 standings at 6-1 after beating Texas Tech at home Saturday, 68-58. No. 13 Iowa State (14-4, 5-2 Big 12) is tied for second in the league with Kansas and Texas after dropping a 61-59 decision at Oklahoma State on Saturday.

The matchup features the two biggest surprises in the Big 12, after K-State was picked 10th in the preseason poll and Iowa State eighth.
