Need a new drill to fix that outlet in the living room? What about a new face plate? Screws to hold it in? Oh, and it's your mother's birthday so you need to buy a gift, too?
Southeast Ace Hardware, which opened March 6 at Midtown Market in Hattiesburg, is the place where all those needs are met and more, manager Meloney DeLeo said.
Customers have been strolling in to see the freshly stocked store filled with gift items and gadgets — from just about every brand of outdoor grill and drill to house paint to houseplants and a corner filled with items perfect for gift-giving.
"I think it's great for the community," DeLeo said.

DeLeo and her team of associates have been busy making sure everything is perfect for their customers, down to the last detail.
Even though the Midtown Ace is less than two miles from Lowe's and half a mile from The Home Depot, DeLeo said it shouldn't affect the business.
"Whereas a (store like) Lowe's does home construction, we're more home preservation," she said.
Customers will come in and may not know what they need to fix a problem in their home, DeLeo said. But they can come in to Ace with confidence in knowing their needs will be met.
"We have experts who can literally take them to what they need and help them," DeLeo said. "That's what makes Ace kind of really unique. We're the friendly, helpful place for solutions."

The Hattiesburg store is one of six owned and operated by David and Angela Majure of Meridian. The other stores are located in the Meridian, Tuscaloosa and Birmingham areas.
The Majure Retail Group opened its first Fred's location in 1968. By 1980, the group owned over 25 Fred's locations in Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama and Georgia. MRG opened its first Ace Hardware store in 2018 and sold all but one of the Fred's Pharmacy locations.
Since then, the Majures added additional Ace Hardware locations, including the newest store in Hattiesburg. The Fred's Pharmacy, located in Quitman, is the only one left in the country, according to the Southeast Ace website.
“Southeast Ace Hardware is committed to being the No. 1 provider of home maintenance solutions, neighborly advice and resources to residents in Hattiesburg,” David Majure said in a news release. “We have been trying to find the right neighborhood feel for Hattiesburg for over five years and we were fortunate to find such an incredible location on the corner of the Midtown Market Center.”

The commercial property had been vacant for nearly five years after Corner Market moved its flagship store to a larger location in the same shopping plaza.
The Midtown store will hold a grand opening weekend March 30-April 1, with festivities planned for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 31.
