A hair-raising competition: Sokol Park hosts 14th annual rodeo

The rodeo rounded up a big crowd this weekend in Tuscaloosa.

The 14th annual professional rodeo began Thursday and was scheduled to conclude  Saturday in the Ray C. Jenkins Multipurpose Arena at Munny Sokol Park, 6025 Watermelon Road.

Presented by the Double Creek Rodeo Company and the Southeastern Professional Rodeo Association, the event features competitors from all over the country vying for prize money in such events as  calf roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing, bronco riding, bull riding and more.

For the fans, the rodeo also featured a mechanical bull, a rock climbing wall, bungee jumps, food vendors and Western boutique vendors.
