H.S. Roundup: Cai Marquez breaks the Waverly school record in 110m hurdles

TRACK AND FIELD

Miami Trace Invitational: On Thursday night, Westfall and Waverly traveled to Washington Court House to compete in Miami Trace's annual track invitational.

Cai Marquez was the biggest story for the Tigers as he set a new school record for the 110m hurdles after completing the race in 15.17 seconds.

He also came in first place in the event.

Waverly's boys' track team ended up coming in third place with a team score of 93.

Westfall's Peyton Proffitt won the girls' pole vault after leading the way with an 11-00 vault.

Westfall's girls' track team ended up coming in seventh place with a team score of 63.50.

Zane Trace Invitational: The Pioneers hosted Unioto, Adena, Piketon, Huntington, Southeastern, and Paint Valley in its annual track invitational.

In the end, it was Adena's girls' team and Zane Trace's boys' team that came out on top in their respective groups.

The Warriors came in first place with 138 points. Event winners for the team include Claire Robinson (pole vault) and Makaela Lovely (high jump).

Their boys' team came in sixth place with a team score of 62 points.

The Pioneers came in first place with 153 points. Even winners for the team include Charley Clyne (300m hurdles) and Lucas Ray (High Jump).

Their girls' team came in second place with a team score of 130 points.

Unioto's girls' team came in third place with a team score of 118 points. Their boys' team came in second place with a team score of 147 points.

Huntington's girls' team came in fourth place with a team score of 103 points. Their boys' team came in third place with a team score of 109 points.

Piketon's girls' team came in fifth place with a team score of 72 points. Their boys' team came in fourth place with a team score of 72 points.

Southeastern's girls' team came in sixth place with a team score of 47 points. Their boys' team came in seventh place with a team score of 43 points.

Paint Valley's girls' team came in seventh place with a team score of 24 points. Their boys' team came in fifth place with a team score of 69 points.

BOYS' TENNIS

Unioto 3, Logan 2: With the Sherman Tanks' latest win over the Chieftains, they have finished their regular with a 5-4 record. They begin tournament play on Monday.

BASEBALL

Lancaster 9, Chillicothe 0: The Lancers managed to shut out the Cavaliers to win a key non-conference matchup ahead of this weekend's tournament draw.

LJ Wright led Chillicothe with two hits.

Northwest 14, Southeastern 3: The Panthers were unable to pull off the non-conference win.

Jarrett McWhorter hit 1-for-2 with a run scored.

SOFTBALL

Southeastern 8, Chillicothe 6: The Lady Panthers outlasted the Lady Cavaliers in a tough non-conference bout.

Erin Richendollar served as Southeastern's relief pitcher and allowed no runs or hits in the final 1.2 innings of the games, She also hit 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.

Chillicothe outhit Southeastern 11-10, with four players having multiple hits. One of those players was Mikayla Spaulding who had an RBI and a run scored.
