H-E-B Christmas tree lighting ceremony draws large crowd to Water’s Edge Park
It is officially the holiday season in the Coastal Bend.
H-E-B and the Corpus Christi Downtown Management District held the annual H-E-B Christmas tree illumination event Saturday night at Water’s Edge Park.
Together, Mayor Paulette Guajardo and H-E-B's Regina Garcia-Posada lit up the 66-foot tree in front of hundreds of Coastal Bend residents. The tree is covered in red, green, gold and white ornaments while more than 7,000 Christmas lights make the tree.
The ceremony included performances by Mariachi Aguila and Lady Kat.
Alongside the ceremony, representatives from Naval Air Station-Corpus Christi collected Christmas toy donations for their annual Toys For Tots program.
The tree will be on display until Jan.7.
