Guard Jahcobi Neath, limited to just three games last season, leaving Wisconsin
MADISON – Jahcobi Neath transferred to Wisconsin before the 2021-2022 college basketball season in search of an opportunity to flourish individually and determined to help UW compete for Big Ten titles.
His relatively short time at UW, marred by injuries, is officially over.
Neath announced Wednesday he is returning home to Canada to continue his rehabilitation and education.
“The last two years as a Wisconsin have been a world-class experience,” he wrote on his Instagram page. “The relationships I have made at this university have been special, and I am forever grateful and thankful for everyone who played a role in my time at UW-Madison.
“Due to multiple injuries I have suffered within the past two years, I believe it is in my best interest to return to Canada and continue my rehab, education and athletics closer to home.
“I look forward to getting back onto the court and playing the game I love. All glory to God!”
Neath, a 6-foot-4 guard from Toronto, played two seasons at Wake Forest before transferring to UW.
Neath was expected to be a key reserve for UW in 2021-2022 but suffered a partially torn left patellar tendon early in the season. After consulting with doctors, he chose to play through the injury rather than undergo surgery and miss the entire season.
He played in 23 games and finished at 1.6 points, 1.5 rebounds and 9.7 minutes per game. Neath underwent surgery shortly after the NCAA Tournament but played in only three games last season before being shut down because of problems with the knee.
