Glades Central football hires Travis Moore as next head coach

A new coach will be moving to the Muck, multiple sources close to Glades Central football confirmed on Saturday.

The Raiders are expected formally introduce Travis Moore as their latest head football coach upon Palm Beach County School District's return from spring break.

Moore will follow Rashad Jackson, who led the Raiders to an undefeated regular season in 2020 and another postseason appearance in 2021. Jackson was fired on Dec. 1 and has since been hired as head coach at Inlet Grove.

Since 2008, Glades Central has undergone six coaching changes, including two stints with former NFL and Florida State wide receiver Jessie Hester.

Moore now leads the task of rebuilding the Raiders in hopes of their 7th state championship in program history as he prepares for his first-ever season as the head coach of a varsity program.

Moore's most recent duties on the sidelines included acting as the pass game coordinator, quarterbacks coach, and junior varsity head coach at Westover Comprehensive High in Albany, G.A. from April to November of 2021.

At the varsity level, Moore coached the top passing offense in Georgia's Class 4A Region 1, touting 1,624 yards and 17 touchdowns in nine games, and the region's receiving leader averaging 26.7 yards per catch and 106.8 yards per game, contributing seven touchdowns in 32 catches.

He's spent time in Georgia, but the bulk of Moore's resume was made in South Florida, where he graduated from University School in 2010. He received his first coaching position at Westminster Academy in 2016, where he was an offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

In his inaugural season at Westminster, the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach commanded the No. 1 offense in the Gold Coast Independent Football Conference. The Lions passed for a total of 2,069 yards and 17 touchdowns and ran for 1,105 yards and 25 scores in nine Games

Moore immediately departed from the Ft. Lauderdale program for Coral Springs High in March 2018 and served as the varsity offensive coordinator and the head coach for the J.V. program. Three years later, Moore landed in Albany.
