FRIDAY'S HIGH SCHOOL RESULTS
BOYS SOCCER
Ponaganset 5, Johnston 1: Ryan Shields scored 2 goals and teammates John McEntee, Wyatt Karmozyn and Kyle Limoges chipped in with a goal apiece for the now 4-2 Chieftains in Division III. Marlin Soto had the lone tally for the Panthers.
West Warwick 3, Chariho 3: Cody Poplaski's goal with about two minutes left in regulation lifted the Chargers to a tie against the Wizards in Division II. Christian Bernardo and Mike Strain (2 assists) had given West Warwick a two-goal lead by halftime, but Ethan Knowles' goal cut the deficit in half for Chariho. Aaron Diotola restored the two-goal advantage for the Wizards but Knowles struck again to make it 3-2. Dan Alvarez finished with 11 saves for West Warwick while Drew Denondour had 9 stops for the Chargers.
North Smithfield 7, Shea 0: Two goals each by Aidan Bienvenue, Josh Neves and Zachary Bienkiewicz and a solo tally by Christiano Rodrigues helped the Northmen run away with the win. Goalies Sam Beauchemin recorded five saves to pick up the win.
GIRLS SOCCER
Central 6, Hope 0: Jessica Gutierrez scored three goals, Michelle Moralez-Tezalam added two more and Talina Paz finished off the scoring for the Knights, who improve to 2-2-1 with the win. Goalie Light Nishimwe was solid in goal for the Blue Wave with 23 saves.
Chariho 1, North Kingstown 1: A goal each by Emily Brown of the Chargers and Katherine Van Gorden of the Skippers would hold up as the Division I contest ended in a 1-1 tie. Ella Dachowski assisted on Brown's tally.
Barrington 0, Smithfield 0: The Sentinels goalkeeper Nicki Nunes made 9 saves and the Eagles' Helena DeFanti matched that with 9 and the teams played to a scoreless tie in Division I.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Prout 3, South Kingstown 1 (25-20, 25-20, 27-25, 25-21): Sydney Decarvalho finished with 8 kills, 3 aces, and 11 digs and Jett Cronin added 8 digs and 2 aces in the Crusaders win. Ava Brock finished with 13 kills for the Rebels.
East Providence 3, Portsmouth 2 (21-25, 25-20, 22-25, 25-25, 15-11): Keira Mullen had 5 kills, 5 aces, 3 blocks and 3 digs and teammate Daniella Escudero had 5 aces and 15 digs for the Townies in the nonleague encounter. Avery Pelletier put together a solid effort with 16 kills, 4 digs and 3 aces for the Patriots in the loss. EP improves to 6-1 this season.
