Free concert by winner of 'The Voice' among 4 things to do this weekend in Houma area

A free concert by the 2020 winner of "The Voice," a play about a people-eating plant, a night with the "Cajun Queen of Comedy" and a free performance by a Grammy-nominated Cajun musician are all on tap this weekend.

Here are 4 things you can do in Terrebonne and Lafourche:

The 2020 winner of "The Voice," NBC's nationally televised singing contest, will perform locally July 24 and 25.

Todd Tilghman, a former church pastor turned country recording artist, will peform at 7 both nights at Coteau Baptist Church, 2066 Coteau Road, near Houma.

The concerts are free and open to the public.

Little Shop of Horrors comes to Thibodaux

Enjoy a hilarious musical and sci-fi smash about a man-eating plant, featuring the 2003 Broadway orchestrations, as the Thibodaux Playhouse stages "Little Shop of Horrors."

Performances are scheduled for 7:30 nightly July 22-31 at the Wetlands Acadian Cultural Center, 314 Saint Mary St., Thibodaux.

Tickets, $25 general admission and $20 for students with a valid ID, are available at thibodauxplayhouse.com.

Laugh it up with Cajun comedy

Caroline Picard, who bills herself as the "Cajun Queen of Comedy," will perform this weekend in Thibodaux.

Shows are scheduled for 7 and 9 nightly July 22 and 23 at Fremin’s Restaurant, 402 W. 3rd St.

Picard, born and raised in Maurice, is a favorite in the clubs around the country and with the troops overseas. She is currently one of Carnival Cruise Lines' Punchliner comedians.

Grammy nominee brings Cajun music to Thibodaux

Cedric Watson, a four-time Grammy-nominated fiddler, singer, accordionist and songwriter, will perform Cajun and Zydeco music July 23 in Thibodaux.

The free show starts at 6 p.m. at Gina's at the Legion, 114 St. Mary St.

It's part of the Louisiana Swamp Stomp music series.
