“Southall started as a dream to create a place for people to stay and experience all a farm has to offer, and it’s become more than I could have imagined," Southall founder Paul Mishkin said in a news release.

“Southall will be a truly immersive experience, and I very much look forward to welcoming our Franklin neighbors and guests of this remarkable destination to see what we’ve grown — from the farm to the inn, spa, signature restaurant and every detail in between.”

The property will feature 62 rooms and suites, as well as 16 individual cottages for guests, alongside a 1,300-tree apple orchard, large-format crops, hydroponic and conservatory greenhouses, and a 4,000-square-foot event space.

James Beard award nominee Tyler Brown is Southall's senior vice president of culinary and agriculture, heading both the property and a dining experience rooted in Southall's farm-to-table capabilities. Brown left his position as chef at the Hermitage Hotel in 2015 to help lead the resort.

Under his direction, Southall has won awards for its innovative hospitality venture even before its formal opening to the public. Its wildflower honey, made with the property's apiaries, won in the 2020 Good Food Awards.
