Florida driver caught on video smashing barrier and jumping over rising drawbridge
A Florida driver was caught on video smashing through a barrier and jumping over a rising drawbridge.
Traffic cameras spotted the driver speeding across the bridge in Daytona Beach before catching some air with a risky leap as it opened.
The incident on the city’s Main Street Bridge, which spans the Halifax River, left the crossing arm needing some repairs.
Police say they think they have identified the driver, who will likely face charges for the Monday stunt.
It is not the first time that a driver has chanced their luck with the rising drawbridge.
In March a rider drover their motorcycle over the same Main Street Bridge as it rose up.

“It’s absolutely against the law, that’s why the rails are there,” said Florida Safety Council spokesperson Bonnie Frank.
“You’re not just risking yourself, you’re risking all those other people that are also up on that bridge.”
