Fan fashion at the 2023 Phoenix Open: Overdressed to barely dressed. (Hello streaker!)

If the WM Phoenix Open golf tournament has a dress code, you sure can't tell from observing the fans.

On Saturday, Feb. 11, thousands of spectators congregated at TPC Scottsdale wearing their finest Halloween costumes, NFL team jerseys, brunch attire and button-down shirts with fun prints to partake in the "Greatest Show on Grass," as the tournament calls itself.

There also was plenty of green apparel for the all-day Green-Out — "for every person who wears green, a donation will be made to the tournament’s new sustainable communities fund," according to the Phoenix Open website.

  • Ghostbusters in orange jumpsuits.

  • "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" double fisting beers at the 16th hole.

  • "Despicable Me" minions in overalls.

  • A Philadelphia Eagle.

  • Luigis in matching neon green hats and denim overalls.

Does the Phoenix Open have a dress code?

But really, does the WM Phoenix Open have a dress code? The event's FAQ page simply encourages people to dress appropriately for the weather by bringing clothes to layer, sunscreen, hats, binoculars and comfortable shoes. The next section, which details golf etiquette, discusses inappropriate and disruptive actions.

Speaking of, the streaker who ran around the 16th hole and evaded police before going for a swim in a water hazard on Feb. 10 was charged with trespassing, disorderly conduct, and failure to obey a lawful order from law enforcement.

But seemingly nothing was said about the Speedo-style bottoms and lewd reference to a "19th hole" written on their shirtless back. Just saying.
