Comment: Junior Aaron Wood made his first start of 2022 a game to remember. Wood threw a 7-inning no hitter against CIF Northern Section Division III title contender Red Bluff on the road. Wood pitched all seven innings, struck out three batters and tossed the first confirmed no hitter since Conor Fitzgerald accomplished the feat in 2013. Wood's outing was the first 7-inning no-hitter in school history, according to athletic director Steven Schuster.

Comment: Rodriguez completed another dominant performance last week in the CIF NorCal Division VI championship game against Weed. Rodriguez scored 21 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and had eight steals — just two shy of collecting a triple double. Rodriguez made two game clinching free throws with less than 10 seconds remaining and Fall River held off Weed 67-65 at home last Tuesday. The win gave Fall River its third CIF NorCal Division VI title and the first since 2018. It's the second straight week that Rodriguez was named an athlete of the week.
Each week, the Record Searchlight selects the girl and boy athletes who stand out based on merits from their performance in the prior week. Profiles highlight their accomplishments on the field or inside the gym and provide a glimpse into who they are as students.
