El Paso Baseball Hall of Fame class announced for 2022

The El Paso Baseball Hall of Fame announced its class of 2022, which will be celebrated, Sept. 2-4.

Here is a look at the five inductees.

* Kyle Anson played high school at Socorro and in college at El Paso Community College and Texas State. He was drafted and signed by the New York Yankees.

* Efrain Lara played at Ysleta High School and New Mexico State University, where he was a team captain.

* Alex Pena graduated from Irvin High School and played at New Mexico Junior College. He played professionally in the Baltimore Orioles and Arizona Diamondbacks organizations.

* Rick Solis is the current Riverside baseball coach and guided them to the round of 16 in Class 4A last season. He played collegiately at EPCC and Northwestern State and professionally in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization.

* Lou Romano is a local sportscaster and has been a longtime community supporter of youth baseball.

All five will be formally inducted on Sept. 4 in a banquet at the Wyndham Hotel.
