Dolphins trading DeVante Parker to Patriots in wake of Tyreek Hill, Cedrick Wilson moves
The Dolphins are trading receiver DeVante Parker to the Patriots, a league source said Saturday.
After acquiring Tyreek Hill in a trade with the Chiefs and signing Cedrick Wilson as a free agent from the Cowboys, Parker was expendable.
Still, it’s interesting that Miami chose to trade Parker within the AFC East. The Dolphins are scheduled to face Parker twice in 2022.
Miami will acquire a third-round pick in 2023 for Parker and a fifth-round pick in 2022.

The Dolphins now have two picks in both the first and third rounds in 2023.
Parker, 29, had a good seven-year run with Miami after he was a first-rounder out of Louisville.
He did consistently battle muscle injuries, though he averaged 13 games played per season.
Parker’s best season in Miami was 2019, when he had 1,202 yards and 9 touchdowns with Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback.
Parker was outstanding on jump balls, though his favorite route was actually the slant.
There seemed to be some lapses of concentration and his catch percentage decreased in each of the last two years, playing largely with Tua Tagovailoa.
Hill and Jaylen Waddle, each 5-foot-10, are two of the fastest players in the NFL but don’t possess the size of Parker, who is 6-3.
Wilson is 6-2 and Miami could use Mike Gesicki, who is 6-6 and even Hunter Long, who is 6-5, as big receiving targets, including in the red zone.
Preston Williams, who will try to rediscover himself with a new coaching staff, is 6-5.
