Delta to drop Boston flights at Westchester County Airport
WHITE PLAINS - Delta will drop its daily flights to Boston from Westchester County Airport beginning Sept. 1.
The flights began a little less than a year ago.
An airline spokesman, Morgan Durrant, said Delta's regional partner, Delta Connection, which provides the flights, is facing pilot staffing challenges. Delta itself is not facing such challenges.
Westchester County Airport also has daily Delta flights to Atlanta and Detroit.
Durrant said Delta wanted to ensure that its White Plains customers don't lose additional opportunities to make easy, one-stop connections through those two hubs.
So Delta will be increasing the number of daily flights between Atlanta and Westchester from five to seven, and between Detroit and Westchester from three to four.
Delta is the second airline to recently announce reductions in its service at Westchester County Airport.

United Airlines recently confirmed that it will suspend its daily service to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport beginning Sept. 1. O'Hare is the only destination United flies to from Westchester.
United said that decision was a result of a periodic re-evaluation of how it uses its limited number of regional jets and the pilots available to fly them
United did not say how long the suspension of that service might last.
