Danny DeVito shows off his Jersey pride, taking a side on Taylor Ham v. pork roll

It's the question every New Jerseyan has a hot take on: What do you call the sliced meat product often found on breakfast sandwiches? Is it pork roll or Taylor ham?

Asbury Park native Danny DeVito knows his answer: "Oh, Taylor ham," DeVito told Wired in a video posted to the outlet's YouTube channel on Aug. 24.

DeVito then goes a step further, explaining his go-to means of ordering it: "Taylor ham on a hard roll with some mustard and lettuce. Oh man, I could, I want one now," he says.

For some historical context, the controversial and salty breakfast meat was invented in New Jersey in the mid-19th century by John Taylor, who initially dubbed it Taylor's Prepared Ham. Taylor Provisions, based in Trenton, still exists today.

Elsewhere in the video, DeVito breaks down his incredibly Jersey accent and looks back on his first job, loading kids onto rides on the Asbury Park Boardwalk.

DeVito kept the Jersey pride coming this weekend, appearing with Gov. Phil Murphy and New Jersey first lady Tammy Murphy in a selfie video posted to her social media channels Monday.

In the video, shot on a windy, unnamed beach, DeVito tells viewers, "Just having a day at the beach, Jersey Shore, it's the best. What a wonderful time here, great summer, you guys all stay well and we're all in it together."

DeVito, 77, is currently co-starring with his daughter, Lucy, in the FX animated series "Little Demon," where he provides the voice of Satan.
