Craig Greenberg joins other incoming US mayors for conference with President Joe Biden
Craig Greenberg is keeping busy in the weeks before he takes over as Louisville's next mayor.
Greenberg, who is set to take office on Jan. 2 after winning the city's mayoral election last month, was in the nation's capital Friday with a dozen other incoming mayors to meet with President Joe Biden and several other national officials, according to a release from his office. The meetings were part of a push by the Biden administration to provide federal resources to new mayors and their cities, the release said.
"As we look to move Louisville in a New Direction we will be working with our federal partners in the Biden Administration to secure funding for a number of significant projects in the coming months and years,” Greenberg said in a statement. “It is an honor to be included in this group and I look forward to capitalizing on every opportunity to bring in major federal investments for our city.”

While in Washington, D.C., Greenberg and other mayors also met with several other U.S. officials, the release said, including:
Pete Buttigieg, secretary of transportation;
Marty Walsh, secretary of labor;
Marcia Fudge, secretary of housing and urban development;
and Susan Rice, director of the Domestic Policy Council.
On the docket for discussion were topics like public safety and transit along with affordable housing, the release said. Greenberg put public safety at the center of his platform during his campaign and has said he plans to build 15,000 affordable housing units during his first four-year term.
Other incoming mayors in attendance Thursday in Washington, D.C., reportedly included Kirk Watson of Austin, Texas, and Harvey Ward of Gainesville, Florida.
