Corpus Christi AFT president Dr. Nancy Vera said the books will be given as gifts to children who visit the drop off locations.

"They're going to be probably given to children who are suffering or going through domestic violence cases and even those children who are homeless because they're LGBTQIA+," Vera said.

Feathered Friends & Co., is owned by Marcus and Robert Lozano. Marcus said he welcomed the opportunity to act as a drop off and pick up location for the books.

"Anything that is good for our community, anything that is being part of the community, that's where I am," Marcus Lozano said. "I'm not going to push them on anybody but if anybody wants to come pick one up, they're more than welcome to."

On Tuesday, the group will host a book giveaway at the Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation and Coastal Bend Pride Center at 2882 Holly Road from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
