Claire Kittle shares her game-day glam secrets

Football games turn into fashion shows when Claire Kittle shows up.

The 30-year-old Iowa native, who is married to San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle, has become one of the famous WAGs (aka wives and girlfriends) of the NFL — and that’s, in part, due to her bold style.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Claire, who is currently partnering with Gatorade, shares a few secrets for how she nails a look that’ll take her from the pregame party to the stadium.

“It is so fun to do,” she says of getting ready for her husband’s games. “It's probably the only day of the week that I actually dress up.”

This takes work, though, and sourcing all her unique 49ers-coded clothing items and "85" accessories — and then styling them — takes a decent amount of planning.

“I try and accumulate things before the season starts, so I can have options," she says. It takes her about a week or two before a game to get a look together.

“I love finding vintage shirts and sweatshirts or jackets. The 49ers have really, really amazing things from the '80s and their Super Bowl runs that are just iconic. They don't make that stuff like that anymore, so I try to just keep my eyes peeled, and whatever finds me, I'll grab it and I'll try to incorporate it into different outfits.”

She also has her 49ers girlfriends Kristin Juszczyk and Olivia Culpo (who are married to fullback Kyle Juszczyk and running back Christian McCaffrey respectively) to lean on for style input.

"We'll send something and maybe someone will be like, 'Oh, you should put these shoes and this bag with that,' or something," she says of what goes on in their group chat. "It's collaborative. We'll all still do our own thing. We'll listen — but we might not do what the other one says," she teases.

Then there's the magic that happens in the glam chair.

Claire loves to prep her skin with hyaluronic acid and a moisturizer before her makeup artist Arbella Yousif gives her a full-beat look. Plus, she stays hydrated by drinking plenty of water, of course (she likes to mix her H20 with Gatorade's Hydration Booster electrolyte powders, which come in a variety of flavors, from Citrus Berry to Tropical Mango).

As to who perfects Claire's signature sleek updos? "I do my own hair," she says. "I love a slicked-back bun or ponytail. I'll just slick [my hair] back with my brush after I've straightened it, then [use] a light clear gel on the top of it. It really stays."

The growing popularity in WAG culture has encouraged a new wave of football fans, particularly young girls. And Claire's fashionable presence in the stands has become so well known that she says fans have started asking her for photos — without her husband. She finds these moments "sweet."

"There have been moments when it's been George and I and a girl will just come up to me and only want a photo with me. He's like, 'That's awesome, that's so cool.' It still kind of makes me laugh a little bit, but I'm like, 'See, I am cool.' It really warms my heart."
