How to make chocolate-covered strawberries in time for Mother’s Day
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and chocolate purveyors at one southern Nevada factory said the sweet stuff is a compelling way to show mom how much she’s loved.
The chocolate experts at Ethel M Chocolate Factory in Henderson gave some tips Wednesday on making what they call the perfect gift for mom: chocolate-covered strawberries. Here’s how to make the delectable treat at home.
Ingredients:
A pack of fresh strawberries
Mom’s favorite chocolate: Whether it’s dark, milk, or white chocolate, better-quality chocolate contains more cocoa butter and will be smoother and glossier when it melts
Coconut oil
Assorted toppings like sprinkles, nuts, chocolate drizzle, or cocoa nibs for added charm
Chocolate-covered strawberries will only taste as good as the ingredients used, so always choose the best possible.
Directions:
Melt the chocolate in a bowl over hot water or in the microwave. The key is to go low and slow for a smoother melt. Be careful not to let any water come into contact with the chocolate.
Dip the strawberries in the chocolate. The chocolate should be warm and not hot.
To decorate, dip the strawberry into the nuts, sprinkles, or other toppings of your choice. For some added flare, drizzle another flavor of chocolate onto your strawberry.
Place the strawberry onto the lined baking sheet. Repeat until all the strawberries are dipped.
Ethel M’s offers a variety of special edition Mother’s Day treats that they say are sure to put a smile on the faces of any mother. From creamy caramels to rich dark chocolate to silky truffles, Ethel M’s chocolate experts say a box of gourmet sweets is the perfect way to show mom affection.
