Chlöe Bailey Pairs This “Juicy” Gloss With Dollar-Store Lip Liner

How does someone's beauty “thing” become their beauty “thing”? That’s the question we’re posing to celebrities and their beauty pros in our new series, Just One Thing. Of course, journalists that we are, we’re also taking the opportunity to ask about the one product that helps keep their thing… thing-ing.
For this installment, we caught up with Chlöe Bailey at the Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival. The singer (her album Trouble in Paradise is out now) and actor (she guest stars in the Peacock series Fight Night, out next month) gave us the scoop on the product she relies on to keep her lips looking perpetually-glossy.
I've never been to Martha's Vineyard before. It's so beautiful and homey and I really like how cozy it is. I just flew in from set yesterday. I'm filming this movie called Goons with Michael Rainey Jr. and it's been really fun. We were on set until 6:45 in the morning and got straight on a flight here.
[To look put together after getting off a plane, I rely on] my lash extensions and my shades—I love any that fill half my face and are totally black out, because I like to people-watch. And my lip gloss. Fenty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer in Glass Slipper is my favorite.

It’s clear and just makes your lips look luscious and juicy. [Before I apply it], I'll do a lip liner, like a light brown to make them look a little fuller. I'll even use lip liners from the dollar store, to be honest. It just has to be a light brown, like a MAC Cork, not a brown that’s too dark. I'm the person who loves overlining my lips. I'm a Black girl with full lips, but I love it because it gives a deeper pout. After that, I put the lip gloss on top. That with the lash extensions, you're ready to go. You don’t have to do anything else to your face.
[But on days I’m filming] no matter if my character has minimal makeup or more, the brows structure the face, so I do use a brow pencil. I like to put a piece of me into each character [but] when you watch me on the screen, I don't want you to see Chlöe Bailey, I want you to see the character I'm portraying.
