Celebrate Pride and Earn 5x Miles: Exclusive Offer for United Cardholders

Pride Month 2022 is well underway, and it’s a time to celebrate our LGBTQ+ communities. With many parades, festivals and events planned in cities across the nation, there’s also another way to honor Pride a little closer to home — and that’s by donating to a nonprofit organization that advocates for LGBTQ+ individuals.

Exclusively for Pride, United Airlines, Chase and Visa have teamed up to offer bonus miles to its cobranded cardholders who donate to select LGBTQ+ organizations from now until June 30, 2022. Cardholders can earn 5x miles for every dollar spent (and up to the first $1,000 donated per card!) to the following nonprofits that you likely have heard of:

• The Trevor Project: Focuses on suicide prevention and crisis intervention efforts for LGBTQ+ youth by providing a 24/7, confidential hotline with trained counselors. Read more.

How It Works

Wondering how you can donate and earn your bonus miles? The process is quite simple and does not require any additional registration on your part.

First, you’ll want to donate directly through the website of the organization you choose. At checkout, you will need to pay using your eligible United MileagePlus credit card, which includes the following:

• United Gateway Card

• United Explorer Card

• United Quest Card

• United Club Infinite Card

• United Business Card

• United Club Business Card

Pro tip: You’ll want to double check that your card is within the Visa network, as some United MileagePlus cards are under Mastercard ownership (and therefore wouldn’t be eligible to earn 5x miles!). To check if your United card is eligible for this offer, look for the “Visa” symbol in the lower right-hand corner.

Donating to one of these organizations gives cardholders the opportunity to earn up to 5,000 miles. Currently, we estimate United MileagePlus miles to be worth 1.4 cents apiece. In other words, if you were to donate up to the maximum limit, that $1,000 contribution would reward you with 5,000 miles, or roughly $70 toward award flights through the MileagePlus loyalty program.
