Business: Stephen Fletcher named Stanley Theatre’s first house artist

Local artist Stephen T. Fletcher has become The Stanley Theatre’s first house artist. Fletcher will be commissioned to create works of art of upcomings events and shows that are taking place at the theatre. Previously, he created a painting of Alice Cooper for when the rocker was in town. He is slated to create paintings of upcoming shows, including: “The Nutcracker,” Chevy Chase, Almost Queen and Swan Lake, just to name a few.

The Griffiss Institute (GI) has appointed Charles Green to its board of directors. Green is the co-founder, president and CEO of Assured Information Security (AIS), a cyber and information security company founded in 2001 and headquartered in Rome. Green has more than 20 years of experience in offensive and defensive information operations, as well as Department of Defense (DoD) information assurance (IA) research and development. Green earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from SUNY IT and currently sits on the board of directors for Central New York Defense Alliance (CNYDA), GreyCastle Security and Mohawk Valley Edge. He also is a member of the Mohawk Valley Regional Development Council. The Griffiss Institute mission is to provide a responsive and flexible business environment to enable the collaboration of private industry, academia, and the Air Force Research Laboratory Information Directorate.

James A. Engler Jr. was inducted into the National Electrical Contractors Association as a fellow in the Academy of Electrical Contractors. Fellowship in the Academy of Electrical Contracting is one of the highest honors bestowed upon an individual for their outstanding leadership in the electrical contracting industry. Engler was recognized for his exceptional service to the industry and the National Electrical Contractors Association through his membership in the Finger Lakes Chapter of NECA and currently serves on its board of directors and as president of the Association. He is president of Engler Electric Inc., an electrical contracting firm in Utica.

The Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES was recognized with 19 awards in the New York School Public Relations Association’s (NYSPRA) 2021 Annual Communications Awards, a state contest to recognize and celebrate outstanding achievement in educational communications. Seven of the honors were Awards of Excellence, the highest level of recognition; nine were Awards of Honor, the second place level of recognition; and three were Awards of Merit, the third place level of recognition. Russell Brewer has been promoted to senior vice president, commercial banking group manager at Community Bank N.A. In his new role, Brewer will be responsible for managing Community Bank’s commercial banking teams across Onondaga, Oswego, Madison, Oneida, Herkimer, Lewis, Jefferson and St. Lawrence counties. Brewer has over 31 years of experience in the financial services industry as a commercial banker. He joined Community Bank in 2015 as a commercial banker and team leader with the acquisition of Oneida Savings Bank. He earned a bachelor of science from Cornell University and a master’s degree in business administration from LeMoyne College. Brewer is also an ABA Stonier graduate from the School of Banking at the University of Pennsylvania. He lives in Oneida.
