OLD WASHINGTON - Saturday was a big day for the Buckeye Trail volleyball squad, with a couple of significant marks on the line as the Lady Warriors welcomed Caldwell for a non-league match-up.

"Pretty big day for us today," Buckeye Trail head volleyball coach Wendy McVicker explained. "A lot of expectations on the day for us, but we just tried to focus on getting the win. Just take it one game at a time, and just take care of business, like we have all season so far. And that seemed to work out for us again today."

The first big mark was a program mark as the Buckeye Trail volleyball all-time wins count stood at 899, needing just one more to reach the coveted 900 win plateau. Secondly, the current Lady Warriors' team brought a perfect 9-0 record into the action.

Caldwell entered the day with an 8-3 mark, and figured to be a worthy opponent to overcome for the Lady Warriors to accomplish the pair of lofty goals.

In the opening game, the two squads battled back and forth for control with ties at 9-9, 10-10, 12-12, 13-13 and finally at 20-20 before the Lady Warriors made their move with junior Ally Carpenter doing the honors.

"We stayed focused after falling behind so quickly and did a great job to get back into the game," McVicker continued. "One thing with these girls, is they don't ever quit and believe every time we step on the floor we are going to win. And so far this year we have."

"Caldwell is a very good team and we knew that coming in," McVicker stated. "We kind of knew how we wanted to attack them today, and the girls did a great job of executing that game plan."
