It was a sparkling-good time for Thursday's "Night of Lights" at Safety City.

Members of the Abilene Fire Department assisted families as they wandered the light-strewn grounds of Melvin Martin Center for Children's Safety at Rose Park.

Santa Claus met with children from behind the seat of a 1926 American LaFrance vintage fire engine, with children parents nibbling on cookies and hot chocolate as they exited.

The fun continues this week - Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Admission is free and gates open at 6:30 p.m. with the event closing at 9.
