Brecksville wins all-star girls soccer clash with Wadsworth; Twinsburg edges Hudson
GIRLS SOCCER
Brecksville 3, Wadsworth 1
Heavy is the head that wears the crown.
The Bees (3-1, 1-0) know they’re going to get everyone’s best shot as the reigning Suburban League champion and on Wednesday, the Grizzlies (2-2-1, 0-1) came at them strong.
It was a contest that featured two Division I all-state players in Brecksville’s Shea Vidovic and Wadsworth’s Ella Dinwiddie and both factored prominently.
Vidovic put the Bees ahead midway through the first half on an assist to Barrett.
A College of Charleston recruit, Vidovic put Brecksville ahead 2-0 with 15:31 left when she made true on a pass from Saide Lewis.
Dinwiddie, a Marshall recruit, cut it to one three minutes later on a direct kick, but Eva Sunjevaric pushed it back out to a two-goal advantage with 4:24 left and it stayed that way.
Twinsburg 1, Hudson 0
The Tigers' Arriah Gilmer scored the lone goal in a rematch of last years Division I district final Wednesday at Tigers Stadium. Twinsburg improved to 4-0 on the year.
Highland 12, Tallmadge 1
The Hornets got a hat trick from Mirjana Simic along with two goals apiece from Grace Madison and Vanessa Zufall as they routed the Blue Devils.
Abby Caruso scored the lone goal for Tallmadge.
Copley 7, Aurora 0
Senior Ashley Kerekes scored three goals to guide visiting Copley (5-0) to a win.
Senior Emma Stransky, senior Allie Arnold, junior Kate Young and junior Emily Kerekes each added a goal for Copley. Stransky had three assists, Emily Kerekes added two assists and Megan Brewer had one assist. Junior goalkeeper Kami Ayoup had her fourth shutout in a row with the help of defenders Brewer, senior Gabby Niemczura, junior Colleen Bauer and junior Sydney Leach.
Manchester 10, Canton South 0
The visiting Panthers (6-1, 3-0 PAC-7) rolled to a victory with Katie Norris scoring four goals and getting three assists. Gina Tipton contributed two goals for Manchester.
Archbishop Hoban 10, St. Vincent-St. Mary 1
Natalie Shimmel scored five goals and had three assists to lead the host Knights to a victory over the Irish at Dowed Field. Hoban's Lauren Mahoney contributed three goals and two assists.
