It’s the cooked pork in a can that has been around since 1937. Even if you’ve never had Spam before, you most definitely have seen it. People have been spotting the ham product in a breaded version at Costco for the past week, and we have just as many questions as you do.

Spam Patties, simply described as “breaded pork,” do not come in a can. The fully cooked patties come in a box of nine servings and must be kept frozen. On the back of the box, there are suggestions for how to use your new favorite frozen bite. You can serve them alongside eggs for breakfast or pop them on hamburger buns for sliders. Dinner is served?

People have been making their own breaded Spam for years, so this takes a big step out of the process. You won’t have to cut up slices and dip them in eggs followed by the breading. What a time to be alive, right?

So far, the Spam Patties have only been seen on Costco shelves. The brand has yet to announce the new product, so we’re not sure if availability will expand. If you happen to stumble across these in the freezer aisle, you know you have to try them. That’s the rules.
