Boiling Springs boys basketball will have a new coach next season as Curtis Nash steps away from the bench to take on a new role within Boiling Springs athletics. Nash will remain on the Bulldog's football staff as an assistant.

"Nash is going to be staying on with varsity football, and he's going to be our new developmental league director," said Boiling Springs athletic director, Evan Moxie. "This new role that we're creating, where we're getting the young kids in our community and developing their youth leagues, we really felt this would be a great spot for Curtis."

Nash had been the boys basketball coach at Boiling Springs for the past two seasons, finishing with a combined overall record of 22-27 and 5-11 in region, finishing fourth in Region 3-AAAAA both years.

After realignment, the Bulldogs will move to Region 2-AAAAA next year and will face Upstate powerhouse Dorman, and perennial playoff team, Byrnes.

"Going into that region with Dorman, we're going to get an opportunity to play one of the best teams in the state year in and year out, and with all of our athletics we're looking for them to take that next step," Moxie said. "I don't believe that you can be a varsity football coach and be the head of a sport like basketball, It's just too much … we just have to get a little bit more focused on all of our programs, to put our kids in the best possible situation to succeed."

Boiling Springs now joins Spartanburg High School, who will also be in their region next year, in the search for a new boys basketball coach. As the transition to the new region approaches, according to Moxie, Boiling Springs is looking for a coach that can take their basketball program to the next level.

"We're always looking for coaches that have a proven track record of success. That doesn't necessarily have to be as a head coach. But that's definitely beneficial," Moxie said. "Also someone that's helped take a program that wasn't a perennial powerhouse, and was able to have some success with them, because right now we are in the need of some building and developing."

Boiling Springs' search for a new boys basketball coach has begun and the job opening has been posted on Spartanburg County School District Two website.
